In a Different Light

So last week I decided I had been listening to the same six cd's in my car for about 8 months (creature of habit) and figured it was time to switch them out. I randomly came across an old Avalon cd that I'm pretty sure was my sister's that I kind of borrowed and forgot to return... Anyway this cd was my favorite for a long time, mostly because of Number Three, "In a Different Light". I typed the lyrics below, but what is so ironic about this is that this past Sunday, my Pastor did a sermon about Heaven. It is so nice and comforting every now and then to be reminded that if we live in Christ, we get to spend eternity there with Him! And this song makes me feel so good and reminds me that when I'm having a bad day, it really doesn't matter because the time we spend here is nothing compared to where we get to spend FOREVER! I hope this song touches everyone who reads this the same way it touches me.

Don't cry for me
No, I've never been one to shoulder the weight of the world
'Cause I believe
This is here and it's now, but it's not my home
There's a hope beyond what my eyes can see
And there's a place that He's preparing for me
Nothing's gonna keep us here
We'll go a different way
It'll be all right
From the other side we'll see it clear
On a different day
In a different light
Don't be afraid
Of the twists and the turns of the road that we're on, just believe
There'll come a day
When our faith turns to sight, and we'll see His face
While we're here the heartache's hard to ignore
So for now, we'll keep our eyes on the Lord
Though for now, we see things dimly
There's a voice that speaks within me
Leading me to a different light
In a different way
In a different light

My Better Half, Piper

While I'm on a roll of introducing myself, to know me is to know my dog. I adopted her August 1st of last year from the Virginia Beach SPCA. Its funny because my whole life I have always wanted a yellow lab or a mastiff or a golden retriever or something that weighed at least 75 lbs. However, the minute I saw Piper behind bars, I had to have her. (And to her defense, she plays fetch like a big dog, runs like a big dog--or cheetah, perhaps, doesn't bark unless you're in a UPS truck, and swims in the ocean.) Unfortunately the SPCA wasn't able to give me much information on her background. All they knew was that she came from Virginia Beach Animal Control the day before, and that she was some kind of poodle mix. My vet, who I adore by the way, thinks she is malti-poo because of her ears and apricot coloring. He also said by her teeth that she looks 2 or 3. So I'm pretending her third birthday will be this August 1, and yes there will be cake and presents.

Let Me Introduce Myself...

I never saw myself as a blogger, because I didn't think I had enough to say. However in the past few months, a lot about me has changed. For instance, as my boyfriend, Hubbard, and I have gotten more serious I see a lot of things differently. I never used to understand how women could be stay-at-home moms and enjoy cooking and cleaning and housewifey things. Now that's all I want to do. I do love my job, and it is for a good cause, but the day I get to wake up whenever I want, actually cook myself breakfast, maybe pull a few weeds (because that's really all I know how to do in a garden), grocery shop, watch a little HGTV or Food Network, maybe even visit my husband for lunch, I vow to be so grateful every single day. As for now, though, I will continue going to work every day from 8:30-4:30 and pretend I'm not secretly wishing I was spending time with my nephews or shopping with my mom.

Aside from my aspirations to get out of working, I truly am a genuinely happy person. I have been very blessed with an extremely close family, who all live locally, and my two sweet nephews. Ever since Jacob and Will were born (Jacob is 3 and Will is 3 months) I can't even remember what family functions were like before. Must have been boring though. I am also very blessed in that we all go to the same church, and 3 of us play in the church orchestra together. We just got a wonderful new pastor in October, who has completely blown me away in so many ways that I will hopefully get a chance to tell you about if I eventually accumulate some readers...

That's it for now, more tomorrow!
